Founded in 2005, by Tom Marchant along with co-founders Matt Smith and James Merrett, Black Tomato has continued to exceeded 200% growth in sales YOY and is still independently owned and operated by the founders. Marchant is a pioneer in the travel industry, harnessing experiential travel for the sophisticated consumer since 2005. Tom and Black Tomato have dedicated the last 15 years to exploring new destinations for curious travelers and broadening the realm of possibility for those seeking unique and insightful experiences within cultures rather than cookie-cutter itineraries. Innovation has consistently been paramount to Black Tomato’s ethos and has inspired Tom to create ground-breaking products such as Bring it Back, launched in March 2019, offering 7 immersive itineraries from Ibiza to Mongolia designed to spark existential epiphanies and address challenges in key areas of life from creativity, entrepreneurialism, family and community, sustainability to wellness. Tom’s personal passion for identifying Iceland’ remote regions such as the northern Diamond Circle to alleviate overtourism, was recently recognized by Conde Nast Traveler’s 2019 World’s Best Travel Specialists as ‘one of the 50 people in the world changing the way we travel’. Inspiring travelers and industry folks alike, Get Lost challenges travelers to totally disconnect and explore their way out of unknown destinations, earning a nod from Forbes as “the travel industry’s most innovative disruptor.” Encompassing Black Tomato’s founding mission to create rare, transformative moments, blink, the ultimate bespoke, pop-up luxury accommodations in remote corners of the world, was lauded in Bloomberg as “the coolest thing to hit the travel world” and awarded by Men’s Journal as a 2019 Best Hotel Trend.
