Born and raised in New York City, Jeff grew up in a family that loved great food, cooking, and large family gatherings. Jeff has worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years, working every position from busboy to cook to manager. Early on Jeff found he loved connecting with guests and learning about food, wine, and hospitality. He honed his skills as a manager in the late 90s, running some of Manhattans most popular restaurants.
Corner Table Restaurants, founded in 2001, has grown to be one of the most respected restaurant groups in New York City. Corner Table’s mission is simple: Make People Happy! From the beginning Corner Table has been obsessed with building a positive, supportive environment for its employees who in turn take great care of their guests.
In 2007, Corner Table Restaurants opened the first outpost of The Smith, a large and lively American brasserie in Manhattan’s East Village. Whether it’s an after-work bite, drinks on the town, a birthday bash, a working lunch, a boozy brunch, or an I-don’t-want-to-cook-tonight night, The Smith has something for everyone. Working with local farmers and purveyors that they trust, The Smith serves consistent and delicious bistro classics, seasonal fare, and craft cocktails.
Fast forward to 2018 and there are six locations of The Smith, four in Manhattan and two in Washington D.C. The Smith collectively serves over 2 million meals annually and many of The Smith locations are among the top 100 grossing restaurants in the country. The Smith often has three of the top spots on the list of Most Booked restaurants in New York City on Open Table. More locations of The Smith are in the works with a location opening in Chicago early next year.
